The most popular excursions among tourists

Iron Road.
It invites tourists to rediscover iron ore deposits, learn about the features of its mining, processing and production of iron in the times of the XVII-XIX. A must-see is the Rossell Smithy.
She worked from 1842 to 1876 representing Spain’s real competition in the manufacture of wrought iron products.
Here you can see hanging hammers, widely used at that time, and other tools used by blacksmiths.

Peculiarities of Andorran land development.
This is a culture based on an intensive, but at the same time rational approach to the use of the natural resources of this mountainous country. This culture, whose founders were farmers, shepherds, masons, blacksmiths, miners, foresters and weavers, can be traced at every turn. Three houses, inside which you can visit, will tell about the peculiarities of life and life arrangement of representatives of different social classes who lived in Andorra several centuries ago. We are talking about houses: Casa Cristo (Encamp), Casa Rull de Sispony House-Museum and Casa d’Areny Plandolit (Ordino).

Journey to the Madriu-Perafita-Claror Valley, which since 2004 has been declared one of the 84 UNESCO World Heritage Sites in the category of unique landscapes. This is an amazing place, symbolizing the harmony of nature and man. The area of the valley, located southeast of the capital of Andorra, is 4.247 hectares – about one tenth of the total area of the country. Madriu-Perafita-Claror – a favorite place of the Andorrans themselves – has remained almost untouched since the Middle Ages. Dry stone walls, herds of grazing livestock and the absence of a large number of people give a complete feeling of returning to the past. Today, the only difference from the Middle Ages is a more developed animal husbandry, but this aspect almost does not violate the pristine nature of this valley. The valley contains the country’s second largest water basin. Its length is 12 km, and the difference between the highest and lowest marks is 1.855 m: 1.050 m above sea level at the lowest point of Escaldes-Engordany and 2.905 m above sea level at the highest point, which is called La Portelleta. Wild animals can be found in the valley, rare plants are also quite common here. Whichever way you choose to take this route, you will find small shepherd houses in the traditional Andorran style, as well as fenced small plots of land where vegetables are grown. For lovers of the exotic in the summer, accommodation is offered in one of the huts of the valley.

Comapedrosa nature reserve.
It is located in the northwest of Andorra in the province of la Massana. The area of the reserve is 1.543 hectares, the highest point – Comapedrosa – is located at an altitude of 2.942 m above sea level. It is known that the first ascent of the Comapedrosa peak took place on September 22, 1858. Alpine landscapes, lakes with trout, waterfalls and springs are the main attractions of this route. The reserve has a huge number of mountain trails of different difficulty levels, which makes it accessible to tourists of various age groups. A restaurant is open in one of the huts during the summer. If you wish, you can spend the night here to meet the sunrise of unprecedented beauty. Please note that the hut has only 4 rooms with 12 beds in each. The price is appropriate – you can spend the night here for only 11 euros. The average bill in a restaurant is 16 euros (the dish of the day costs 9.50 euros). The cost of breakfast is 7.50 euros.
The reserve is a favorite place for Andorran schools for excursions and wildlife studies. There is also a drawing school for children aged 6-10.
