This is one of the first non-state theaters in Belarus – it arose on the basis of the theater-studio “Dze-Ya?”. The repertoire of the theater is quite unique. There were and are performances that have never been staged in Belarus before.
The New Drama Theater closely cooperates with Belarusian playwrights and directors, staged productions of national classics, discovered new names of young Belarusian directors and playwrights. For example, it was in this theater that plays by Andrei Kureichik, one of the most famous Belarusian screenwriters and directors, were staged. So if you are not afraid of a trip to the outskirts of Minsk, you are welcome to one of the best Belarusian theaters.

RTBD first worked as a laboratory theater at the Kupala Theatre, but then separated. It is famous for its daring and slightly provocative productions by modern Belarusian playwrights.
It is located not far from the city center and near, perhaps, one of the most picturesque places in the city – the shores of Lake Komsomolskoye. So, after a great performance, do not deny yourself the pleasure of taking a walk in a cozy park near the theater.

The only puppet theater on our list. This is a theater that is comparable in level to the best modern European theaters. His “trick” is spectacular productions with an unusual reading of classic stories. The theater is well known outside of Belarus. Even if you are no longer a child, you will still be interested there.

Grodno Regional Drama Theatre.

The Grodno theater is famous not only for its productions, but also the building. According to legend, it was built in the form of the crown of the king of the Commonwealth, Stefan Batory, who loved Grodno. Today, the building of the Grodno Drama Theater has become one of the symbols of Grodno along with the Farny Church.
The theatre’s repertoire is extensive: from Belarusian classics (“The Scattered Nest”) to contemporary foreign authors (“Dear Elena Sergeevna”). An excellent point for a cultural program in Grodno!

Initially, the Gomel Theater was created as a Russian drama theater. Therefore, at first, only works of Russian classics were staged there. However, several decades later (and, more specifically, in the 1990s), plays in the Belarusian language appeared in the repertoire of the theater.
Speaking of repertoire. We advise you to pay your attention to the performances of “Romeo and Juliet” and “Trees die standing.”
The theater actively tours around Belarus, so you can find its troupe not only “at the place of registration”, but even in Bryansk, Chernigov, Nizhny Novgorod, Moscow.

National Academic Drama Theatre. Yakub Kolas

This theater is one of the oldest in Belarus – it has been operating since 1926 and pleases its visitors with performances of various genres: from classic comedies to modern grotesque plays. Thanks to the theatre. Yakub Kolas, the audience learned the names of many honored and people’s artists of the Republic of Belarus.
By the way, the theater Yakub Kolas is the only theater in Belarus with the status of a national theater that operates in the regional center, and not in Minsk.

Timkovichi People’s Theatre.

Timkovichi Folk Theater
This is the only rural theater in Belarus. It is located 100 kilometers from Minsk, not far from Nesvizh. In 2017, he turns 100 years old. By the way, the famous Belarusian writer Kuzma Cherny was the first leader of the drama circle, on the basis of which the drama theater arose.
The most popular productions of the theater are: “Children of the same house”, “We are funny guys” by Y. Tomin, “The Scarlet Flower”, “Gavrosh of the Brest Fortress”, “The Adventures of Dunno”.
The Timkovichi Theater has a wide repertoire of plays by Belarusian, Russian and Ukrainian playwrights.
