Zanjan (Persian زنجان‎, Azerbaijani Zəncan, زنجان) is a city in northwestern Iran, the administrative center of the Zanjan province.
Important cultural center. The birthplace of traditional Persian carpets and the largest center of their industrial and handicraft production.

Geography
Located 298 km northwest of Tehran and about 125 km from the coast of the Caspian Sea, at an altitude of 1638 m above sea level.

Sights
Zanjan has a very bizarre pattern of natural landscapes, and in summer it has pleasant air. Among its important sights it is necessary to mention the historical complex of the Zanjan bazaar. It is recognized as one of the most interesting complexes of its kind in the state and is included in the Cultural Heritage List of Iran. This bazaar is spread over an area of 15 hectares, it is located in the center of the ancient urban structure, and it can be divided into two parts: lower and upper. You can indicate the presence of a ceiling in the market, where there are many holes. Mosques were built on its territory. In all likelihood, the construction of this grandiose complex should be attributed to 1790, when the founder of the Qajar dynasty, Aga-Muhammad Khan Qajar, ruled. The complex acquired its modern look in 1906. This bazaar combines wholesale and retail trade rows, and the exit from it to the city is due to many lanes.
Nowhere in Zanjan can you find such a variety of goods as there. Since the market is covered, there is a brisk trade in rain and snow. One of the important city sights must be recognized as Mir-Baha-ud-Din Bridge. It is located in one of the southern suburbs of Zanjan on the road leading to Kurdistan. It was built during the reign of Nasser ad-Din Shah Qajar. There is also a museum in the city called Rakhtshuyane (Ethnographic Museum). It is located in the center of the old city. In this area, local women washed their clothes, which is why it became known as Rakhtshuyane (Persian, lit. “Clothes washing area”). That is, the museum building in the old days was used for washing clothes. It was built to help women wash their clothes in late autumn and winter so that they do not suffer from the cold. It was built by two brothers: the architect Mashkhadi Akbar and the builder Mashkhadi Esmail in the late Kadzharian style. Now this building has been rebuilt and renovated. Ancient the historical mosque Damiriye (Damirli) is located in the southwest of the city of Zanjan. Its main chapel has seven columns. Its arches are richly decorated and are unparalleled in beauty in all of Zanjan.
