Ramtha (Arabic: الرمثا‎) is a city in northwestern Jordan, part of the Irbid Governorate.

History
Initially, the city was called Ramoth-Gilead (Ramot-Gilad). During the era of Roman rule in the region, the city was known as Ramatha.

Geographic location
The city is located in the northeastern part of the governorate, near the border with Syria, at a distance of approximately 60 kilometers north of the country’s capital, Amman. The absolute height is 502 meters above sea level.
