Arad

Arad (Arab. عراد‎) is a city on the territory of the island of Muharraq, as part of the governorate of the same name in the Kingdom of Bahrain. Located a few kilometers east of Muharraq and southwest of Hidd. At the beginning of the 20th century, it was located on the island of the same name, which became part of the island of Muharraq at the end of the 20th century.

Initially, it was a village, but later representatives of the middle strata of society settled on its territory and it turned into a city. At one time in Arad there was a later liquidated Shiite quarter.

Also on the territory of the city are the fort, the Al-Muharraq stadium and the headquarters of the religious and social organization “Islamic Society”.

City schools are completely subordinate to the state and financed by the Ministry of Education. Thus, there are 3 primary schools for boys in the city (city primary school, al-Qawarzmi and al-Dair schools) and 1 city secondary school for boys, as well as 2 primary schools for girls (city primary school and al-Oroba school) and 1 city high school for girls.
