Muntinlupa (Tagalog Muntinlupa) is a city in the Philippines, part of the Manila metropolitan area. The city’s population is 452,943 as of 2007. It occupies an area of ​​46.70 km². The mayor of the city is Aldrin L. San Pedro. Currently, Muntinlupa is one of the largest commercial centers in the Philippines. History
The city was founded in 1601. Initially, the territory of Muntinlupa was administered by Franciscan friars. But in 1869, Muntinlupa received the status of a city.
When the Philippine Revolution began in 1869, the city rebelled against Spanish rule.

In 1941, a prison was established in Mantinlupe, in which the country’s most dangerous criminals were placed. As a result, the name “Muntinlupa” has long been synonymous with the country’s correctional system, although the city has made efforts to change this image.
On November 7, 1975, Muntinlupa was incorporated into the Manila metropolitan area.
On March 1, 1995, Muntinlupa became a highly urbanized city.

Inner Division
Internally, Muntinlupa is divided into nine barangays, the most famous of which, Alabang, is the business center of the city.
