Uijeongbu

Uijeongbu (Korean: 의정부시?, 議政府市?) is a city in Gyeonggi Province, South Korea.
The city is located north of Seoul near the border with North Korea, as a result of which there is an American military presence here: the headquarters of the US Army’s 2nd Infantry Division is located in Uijeongbu (the division’s personnel are stationed mainly in the neighboring city of Dongduchon). In the TV series MASH, Uijeongbu (then a small village) is the location of the 4077 hospital.

History
In the era of the Three States, the territory on which modern Uijeongbu is located first belonged to the state of Goguryeo, then passed into the hands of Silla.
About 600 years ago, Wang Lee Song Ge was returning from Hamhung to Hangyang (as Seoul was then called). It is recorded that he stopped at Howon, which is now one of the districts of Uijeongbu. The cabinet of ministers also came here to discuss state affairs with the van. Hence the name Uijeongbu, which means that the state adviser of the country was sent here. However, the name Uijongbu did not appear on maps until 1912. The status of the city was received on January 1, 1963.

Geography
The city is located in the north of Seoul and is its satellite. It borders Yangju to the north, Namyangju to the east, and Goyang to the west. The city stands on the Chongnan River, which flows into the Hangang. In the east and west, the city is surrounded by the Tobongsan and Suraksan mountains, about 60% of the territory is located at an altitude of more than 500 meters above sea level. The climate, as in the rest of the country, is monsoonal, the average temperature in July is 27.3 °C, the average temperature in January is -5.1 °C. Summers are humid, with more than half of the annual precipitation falling during the rainy season from June to September. Winter is relatively dry
