Sanya (traditional Chinese 三亞, ex. 三亚, pinyin: Sānyà) is an urban district in the south of Hainan Island in the province of the same name in China, the southernmost urban district in the country.

General information
Sanya is a tropical seaside resort of China, located in the very south of Hainan Island, is an international center of tourism. Phoenix International Airport is located 15 km northwest of the city. The city stretches along the Sanyavan Bay. At the moment, five tourist recreation areas are known – five bays (Sanyavan, Xiaodonghai, Dadonghai, Yalunvan, Haitanvan) of the South China Sea, on the banks of which beaches are located. The climate in Sanya allows you to relax on the coast all year round (the average temperature of water and air is from +22 to +28 ° C). Together with a favorable ecological situation, the city is very popular among tourists. In addition to the beaches, the main attraction of the city is the Buddhist statue of Guanyin, built in 2005, 108 m high. The city is also known for many varieties of tea.
To the north of the city in the forests you can find many species of flora and fauna, there are also species endemic to the island.
Sanya has hosted the Miss World final seven times (2003, 2004, 2005, 2007, 2010, 2015, 2017). In 2006 and 2013, the competition “The Strongest Man” was held.
