Benxi (Chinese: 本溪, pinyin: Běnxī) is an urban district in Liaoning Province, China.

History
Huairen County was established in 1876. In 1906, Benxi County (in honor of Benxihu Lake) was created. In 1939, the county was transformed into the Benxihu City District, in 1942 there was an accident at the mine, where 1549 people died [1], in 1948 the Benxihu City District became the Benxi City District.
