It is located at an altitude of 742 m. According to the 2005 census, the population of the village was 700 people.

History
Base
The exact date of the foundation of the village is not clear, it is only known that near the village there was a fortress Ktish (Gtich), which belonged to the Armenian prince Dizak, called Yesai abu Musa by the Arabs. One of the first mentions of it dates back to the 9th century when the fortress was besieged, as a medieval author reports:
“Then Buga went to Isa ibn Yusuf (Yesai abu Musa), who was in the fortress of Ktish (Katish) of the Baylakan province”
In the 16th century, Gukas and his son Avan from the Loris-Melikyan family, who moved here from the village of Artu in the province of Lori, became the owners of Dizak and made Tug the capital of their principality. Here, Prince Gukas “restored the Gtich monastery, founded the monastery and settled in the same monastery. And his son, melik Avan, erected a magnificent church in the village of Tokh and fortified the settlement with circumferential walls. A beautiful palace built by him in the same village, decorated with Armenian inscriptions, is preserved today.”
Raffi, in his book “Melikstva Khamsa”, speaking about the meliks of Karabakh, notes that “the fortress of the melik Dizak was in the village of Tokh, near the Gtich monastery, rising to the very heavens.”
During the reign of Melik Yesaiah, the principality of Dizak was in a state of war with the Persian Shah, by order of which Kazim Khan, together with Panah Khan, at the head of a large army, besieged the fortress of Tokh. Despite the numerical superiority, all attempts by the Persians to capture the fortress were clear, as Raffi notes:
“The one who saw Tokh understands that the large number of the enemy army could not frighten the melik Yesai, since the impregnable location of the fortress resisted the powerful enemy along with his brave warriors.”
During the years of the Russian Empire, the village of Tug (Tug) was part of the Shusha district of the Elisavetpol province.

Modern stage
According to the report of the human rights center “Memorial”, during the years of the Karabakh war in As a result of the hostilities of the Armenian armed formations, the Azerbaijani residents were forced to leave the village of Tug.
After the declaration of independence and the cessation of hostilities, the government of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic declared tourism one of the priority areas for the economic development of the republic. In this connection, it was decided to build a modern tourist base in the village with all the conditions for organizing outdoor activities. The Nor Kyank (New Life) water park already operates in the village, which has swimming pools for adults and children, skating rinks, a playground, cafes and restaurants. On the territory of the water park, 11 so-called courtyards were built, which are large fenced recreation areas equipped with pavilions, barbecue facilities, a bathroom, and areas for setting up tents. Visitor mansions will be built in the near future. There is also everything you need for mountaineering and organizing hikes. By means of special all-terrain vehicles, mountain bikes, ATVs and horses, tourists can be taken to places of interest and historical and architectural monuments of the region.
