Umm Al Kuwain (UAE)

Umm al Quwain is a provincial Arab emirate, remote from noisy big cities. Washed by the waters of the Persian Gulf. This is a former fishing village, in which the old way of life is still preserved.
The emirate can be conditionally divided into two parts. In the old part of Umm al Quwain, vacationers will be able to enjoy the real Arabic flavor, because it has preserved the architectural sights of past centuries. The new part of the emirate is built up with luxurious villas, hotels and municipal buildings.
Umm Al Quwain attracts lovers of a relaxing beach holiday. This resort area is ideal for spending time with family and children. Hiking trips deep into the emirate are organized for nature lovers. Active tourists will be offered diving, snorkeling, sailing, fishing, water skiing, as well as skydiving, an original sport for the emirates.
You can diversify your vacation with camel racing or shooting from various types of weapons.
From the hotels of the emirate, travelers can go on group and solo excursions to the natural, architectural and historical places of Umm Al Quwain.

When to go
You can swim on the coast of the Persian Gulf, where the beaches of Umm Al Quwain stretch, all year round. In the summer months, the air temperature can reach +40 °C. From November to March, the usual weather for European and Russian tourists is established. During the day, the thermometer fixes +26 ° C, + 26 ° C, at night this figure can drop to +15 ° C. At such a time, it is better to go on vacation for those who cannot stand the heat and love sightseeing tours.
Cultural and entertainment events in the emirate are usually held in hotels and inns. Between November and March, small cafes and restaurants in the city are filled with dancers from all over the post-Soviet space, working in the UAE under a contract. On January 1, the emirate celebrates the New Year. And the 13th is the birthday of the Prophet Mohammed (Prophet Mohammed’s Birthday). On May 26, Muslims celebrate the ascension of the prophet to the heavens of Isra and Miraj. June 28 marks the start of Ramadan. Muslims celebrate a religious holiday almost every month.
Tourists and their fellow travelers who are vacationing in the emirate in winter can get on UAE Day, which falls on December 2.

Attractions
For lovers of historical buildings on vacation, we recommend taking a walk around the old market and looking at the wind towers. These structures in the 19th century played the role of a kind of air conditioner: they caught the wind and sent it down to the residential houses of the Arabs. Not far from the market is another interesting attraction – Umm Al Quwain Fort with three tall watchtowers.
The fort houses the Historical Museum of the City (UAQ National Museum), where you can look at the exposition of archaeological finds of different times, pottery and other products of local craftsmen. The museum occupies three tiers. The real chambers of the sheikh are equipped on the uppermost tier. The decor and furnishings of the Sheikh’s personal bedroom are reproduced with maximum accuracy.

Travelers will be interested in seeing the Sheikh Zayed Mosque and the Imam Abu Hanif Mosque.
We advise nature lovers to make a trip to the largest date garden in all the Emirates – Falaj al Muala. In fact, this is not a garden, but a whole ecological park. On the neighboring island of Al Sharjah, the resort offers the largest bird sanctuary in the entire Arab region. The nature of the island strikes the imagination of tourists: the dense forests of the park alternate with mangrove swamps, and the species diversity of birds will surprise even experienced ornithologists.
Beach lovers should definitely visit the magnificent beaches of the Umm Al Quwain Islands. Diving, snorkelling and underwater fishing are available in the coastal waters. Boat trips with visits to the large and small islands of Umm Al Quwain are organized daily for vacationers at the Barracuda Beach Resort.
Tourists will be offered a look at the Antonov-2 biplane and the Ilyushin-76 large cargo plane at the Umm Al Quwain flying club. This is the first flying club in the UAE, created on the initiative of a local sheikh. In the club, unique for the United Arab Emirates, tourists can go skydiving.

Shopping and entertainment
Umm al Quwain is not the trade Mecca of the UAE. For those who plan to go shopping, it is better to go shopping in a trip to Dubai, Sharjah or Abu Dhabi. The city’s only large supermarket, Lu Lu, offers a wide selection of products ranging from lipstick to an electric kettle. There are shops at the hotels, but prices for the goods in them will unpleasantly surprise vacationers. Fresh vegetables and fruits are best purchased at the market. We advise you to look for seafood in a special market not far from the famous sculpture in the form of a fish.
The Dreamland water park has become the most popular tourist destination. The pools of the water park are filled with salt water, comparable in salt concentration to the Dead Sea. Little tourists and their adult companions will be delighted with water attractions and children’s areas with video games. Adult visitors will be able to visit the bar and restaurants.
An alternative to the water park is the Aquarium (Umm Al Quwain Aquarium), which is part of a large marine club (UAQ Marine Club). In the aquarium, guests of the resort will be able to get acquainted with marine life: moray eels, sea snakes and other exotic species.
Umm al Quwain is not the best place for those who like to dance until the morning. Night discos and clubs operating around the clock are located only on the territory of hotels and inns. The Umm Al Quiwain Beach restaurant is especially popular with vacationers. It serves Lebanese and Arabic cuisine, and every evening there is a musical show program. On Friday, Umm Al Quiwain Beach is a real sell-out, as belly-dance dancers and Arabic musicians perform on stage. People come to watch this magnificent show from neighboring Abu Dhabi.
