Chang (Tailand)

Ko Chang is a young, rapidly developing seaside resort, which has become an ideal place for an unforgettable beach holiday in the midst of pristine tropical nature. Koh Chang is Thailand’s third largest island after Phuket and Koh Samui. It is located 315 km from the capital of the country, Bangkok (Bangkok), and close to the border with Cambodia. Chang is located in the Pacific Ocean (Pacific Ocean) in the eastern part of the Gulf of Thailand (Gulf of Thailand). Together with small islands, it is part of the archipelago of the same name (Ko Chang Archipelago). Koh Chang is part of the Mu Koh Chang Marine National Park, so the natural attractions of the island are under state protection.
Due to its truly heavenly nature, the resort will be of interest to both representatives of green tourism, and couples in love heading to the island for a romantic vacation, as well as families with children.
The beaches of Chang attract vacationers with white sand and year-round warm emerald sea water. The most comfortable and most beautiful beaches of the resort are located in the west of the island. The most popular are White Sand Beach, Klong Phrao beach and Lonely beach. Tourists and their fellow travelers on the island are invited to go in for water sports: diving, snorkeling, parasailing, canoeing and kayaking, parasailing, go to sea on a yacht or sail and try exotic fishing.
In addition to beach activities, the resort will offer its guests a lot of exciting outdoor activities: quad biking through the jungle, elephant riding, visiting the rope park at a height, as well as golf, cycling or hiking.

When to go
The climate of Chang is tropical subequatorial. Daytime air temperatures stay around +30 °C all year round. At night, the thermometer does not drop below +20 °C. Sea water warms up to +26–+28 °C. Chang is influenced by the monsoons, so all weather conditions on the island are divided into three seasons: cool or dry (from November to March), hot (from April to May) and the rainy season (from June to October). The best time to travel to Koh Chang is the period from early November to late March, when the sun is gentle and soft for sunbathing, there is no extreme heat, and precipitation is excluded. Vacationers need to keep in mind that monsoon rains periodically pass from the end of May to October and can significantly spoil a beach vacation.
The island hosts many festivals and local holidays, visiting which you can get to know Thai culture and way of life. In the spring and summer months (April – June), Chang organizes the Gastronomic Festival and the Fruit Festival, during which exhibitions and fairs are held.

Attractions
Chang is attractive for those tourists who can appreciate the picturesque nature of the island. Natural beauties are the main attractions of the resort, the most significant of which is the Mu Koh Chang National Marine Reserve, covering most of the territory of Koh Chang and the nearby 46 small islands of the archipelago. You can get acquainted with the reserve on a day trip to the main tourist sites of the park. Guests of Chang will visit uninhabited islands, see underground and underwater caves, walk through the virgin jungle and take pictures of the island’s waterfalls, which are its main pride.
The waterfalls of Klong Plu waterfall, Tan Mayom, Nang Iom, Khiri Pet, Klong Nonsi and Klong Nyng capture the gaze of vacationers. These waterfalls bring not only aesthetic pleasure, but also deliver drinking water to the islanders.
On a holiday in Ko Chang, it is impossible to miss the observation decks of the island, which offer magnificent panoramic views of the sea and fishing villages. We recommend meeting sunrises and seeing off sunsets at the Kai Bae, Phra Tamnak, Chaichet and White Sand beach platforms.

A trip to the island is not complete without a visit to the Buddhist religious temples of Chang, located near the small fishing villages. A well-known local shrine is Chao Po, the temple of the patron saint of the island, where you can not only get acquainted with the spiritual Thai traditions, but also see amazing ancient architecture. No less famous religious landmark of the island is the Chinese temple of Salak Pet, which attracts vacationers with its unique architecture and bright decorations.
An interesting tourist attraction is the largest fishing village of Bang Bao (Bang Bao village), built on wooden piles, carried far into the sea. Excursion to the village will be interesting for those who are interested in fishing and want to enjoy the freshest seafood.
Exotic lovers and their fellow travelers will love the Kingdom of Somchai’s Affection Park on Ko Mak Island, which features grotesque sculptures by local artist Hong Somchai.

Shopping and entertainment
Shopping in Thai resorts is one of the main attractions for tourists who come to rest. For lovers of shopping in Ko Chang, local traditional bazaars and night markets, shops, shopping centers and souvenir shops are open. Markets located near the main beaches offer vacationers all kinds of goods – from food to clothing and souvenirs.
A visit to the market at the pier in the village of Bang Bao will be memorable, where fresh seafood and souvenirs are sold directly from fishermen’s boats. Chang’s major shopping center is VJ Plaza, which houses a huge V Mart supermarket, as well as clothing, footwear and souvenir shops.
We recommend that guests of the island visit the Portobello and Klin Mali jewelry stores, where you can buy not only precious jewelry, but also high-quality watches, interior items, and exotic leather goods.
Tourists usually bring exquisite handmade carpets, exquisite fabrics (Thai silk and batik), paintings by local artists, jewelry, statues of Buddha and elephants from a trip to Koh Chang.

Family holidays with children can be organized in the adventure park “Treetops”. Guests of the park can walk along the rope paths, fly bungee and flying skateboards. We advise vacationers to visit the zorbing club and ride in a huge rubber ball.
Adults and children will enjoy an excursion to the elephant farm (Elephant Camp), where you can see the show of elephants, touch them and ride them. In the monkey school, located in the White Sand Beach area, cute “students” will demonstrate artistic performances and acrobatic tricks to tourists.
Vacationers and their fellow travelers who want to improve their health can visit spas, where they will be offered a course of relaxing Thai massage and fitness.
True gourmets should definitely pay attention to the island’s popular restaurants: Nong Bua, Monkey’s, Saffron and Mak-Mak.
nightlife fans can dance until the morning in the clubs and disco bars Sabay Bar, Himmel, Scandal Bar and X-Bar.
In Koh Chang, travelers will be able to learn Thai cuisine at cooking courses at Blue Lagoon Cooking School and Koh Chang Thai Cooking School.
