Puppy in your house. Vladimir Gavrilovich Gusev

and a treat.

Prolonged inhibition of all kinds of impulses when walking nearby makes this technique one of the most difficult. Therefore, you should train a previously run-down dog, alternating walking next to other techniques and free walking.

The approach to the trainer on command is one of the most necessary training methods in general training. In a room, an open-air cage and a fenced estate, where everything is familiar and pretty boring to the puppy, he willingly hurries to the owner, having heard the nickname and the subsequent command “come to me!”. Particularly well perform a command that promises human attention, affection and treats, small puppies, who still have few interests of their own in the world around them.

But by 3-4 months and later, puppies that are great at home calls begin to react poorly to the command “come!” during walks. After all, the world is so interesting, you want to sniff everything, get to know other dogs, run after passers-by ...

It is very important not to let the dog out of your hands at this particular time.

In order for your call to be stronger than all street temptations at any time, you need to consolidate the trouble-free execution of the “come to me!” command from an early age. taking into account the individual characteristics of the pet. Gourmand is rewarded for each visit team with a piece of cracker, a raisin or at least a small crumb of bread. An attentive, affectionate puppy is stroked, scratching behind the ear. The mischievous person is rewarded with a ball game or other entertainment.

It happens that the puppy willingly runs up for a treat, but tries to get it without giving into hands. To avoid this, you should not catch a baby who comes up on command every time, but a treat should be given only after the dog stops near the trainer and strokes his head, neck, and withers.

You should not call dogs just to take them on a leash. Often they perform poorly because of this. Although even taking on a leash can be a pleasant reward if it promises a subsequent walk along the street or another new, and therefore interesting place.

It is impossible to punish a dog that has been guilty far from the trainer by calling it with a command: the dog has a short memory, and it will associate the received thrashing not with its misconduct, but with the approach to your call.

If you need to punish the dog, approach it yourself, catch it at the moment of misconduct, and finally throw something at it, but your call should only promise it pleasure and encouragement. Otherwise, it is impossible to achieve obedience.

It happens that at the command “come to me!” the pet first goes to the trainer, but then stops at some distance from him. You start to approach him - he runs away or just waits, remaining in place. You can make a stubborn one come up by taking a few sharp steps away from him or by punishing disobedience with a well-aimed throw of a pebble, and when a frightened disobedient one runs up, he must certainly be praised and stroked.

Laying on command. The implementation of this technique is necessary in everyday life, it disciplines the dog and simplifies its management. The command is given by the order “to lie down!”, And in the future it can be replaced by a gesture - raising a hand up.

During training, the dog is seated, then the command is given: “lie down!” and force her to perform a technique by pressing on the withers while stretching the front paws forward. The performance of the desired action is reinforced by giving a treat, stroking and encouraging with a word. You can make a seated dog lie down by showing him a piece of delicacy, held in his hand, which is lowered down and forward in front of the dog's muzzle.

Attempts to stand up are stopped by holding it with your hands while strictly repeating the command “down!”.

When the dog will willingly perform the reception on a verbal command, it will gradually become more complicated, switching to an order with a gesture, increasing exposure when lying down, laying the pet at a distance.

Teaching not to take food without permission. Reception is absolutely necessary when keeping an animal in the house. To practice the technique, they use the moment of feeding the dog, as well as giving treats. When a dog tries to take food, he is restrained by the “no!” command. and a leash. It is allowed to take food only after the command "take it!".

Complicating the reception, they achieve a long exposure of the pet over the food. On the street and in other places, the rejection of the found food is encouraged with a treat from the pocket.

Sometimes you need to stop the undesirable action of the dog with a quiet, but rather intelligible command “shhh!”. The dog hears it well, but there are no strangers, which is very convenient when someone tries to call or feed your pupil.

To prevent dogs from taking treats from other people's hands, some give pets food only from their left hand. Dogs become so accustomed to receiving treats in this way that they distrustfully move away from handouts from the outstretched right hand of a stranger.

Innings. The reception is necessary when training dogs for game feeding and is very convenient in everyday life.

There are two methods for learning to serve.

The first, used with young dogs, is based on the use of the instinct to chase moving objects in the game. A young dog is shown a diarrhea (a ball, a stick, etc.), they flirt with the puppy, then bringing it closer, then removing it away, and then throwing it to the side, saying the command “give!”. The puppy rushes after the diaper and takes it in his teeth, but by no means in order to return it to the owner. On the contrary, he tries to drag away the diaper, ruffles the “toy”. At this moment, the trainer must call the puppy or be in his way and with the command: “drop it!” take away the diarrhea, handing in exchange a piece of goodies. After repeated repetition, the technique will be mastered and the pet will willingly bring and give diarrhea.

But some puppies are not at all inclined to grab and carry objects. Such stubborn ones can be interested in using a boiled bone as a diarrhoea, which is no longer interesting to gnaw, but cannot be left unattended.

An adult dog that is not inclined to play is recommended to be trained in a slightly different, longer, but reliable way.

For this, having seated the pupil at the feet, they give the command “take it!” and carefully put a diaper in his mouth. Of course, the dog tends to spit out such a strange treat, but the trainer prevents this by holding it for a few moments, and then commands "quit!" and immediately gives a delicious reward. When (после многократного повторения) пес станет брать поноску, добиваются, чтобы он наклонялся за ней к опущенной вниз руке, наконец, сам брал ее с земли. After that, it is already easy to force to bring diarrhea.

When собака усвоит прием, его усложняют, меняя приносимые предметы, обертывая их то в тряпку, то в бумагу, постепенно увеличивая дальность заброса поноски, и т. д.

Do not let your puppy play with the diarrhea, or take it away or chew on it. It is necessary that the dog calmly relates to diarrhea and smoothly executes the command: “drop it!”.

If the dog wants to run away with his burden, training should be carried out on a long leash.

Feeding
A dog by nature is a carnivore that feeds mainly on meat. However, in the process of domestication, these animals have adapted to the existence near humans so much that they have become almost omnivorous, like their owners.

An adult dog is fed, as a rule, twice a day - in the morning and in the evening. If she has to be left in the house alone for the whole day without a walk, then it is better to feed her once, after the owner, having come home from work, takes the dog out for natural needs. And some, with such a forced regime, give the dog after a morning walk only a small, more high-calorie, but low-volume part of the daily diet, and give the main food in the evening.

The puppy needs to be fed often, but in small portions, making sure that his stomach does not swell from food, and the baby himself remains mobile and prone to games. Up to 2 months, the puppy is fed 5 times a day, from 2 to 4 months - 4 times, up to 8-10 months - 3 times, and then - as an adult dog.

The amount of food that a dog can eat in one dacha varies dramatically depending on a number of reasons. So, a well-fed, well-grown dog, of medium height, for example, a beagle, eats one and a half to two liters of food of normal creamy density in one feeding. And the emaciated slut, grown on potatoes and bran, manages to eat a bucket of semi-liquid food in one sitting. And puffed up from what he ate, he can still remain hungry, since the feeling of appetite is created not only with an empty stomach, but also with a lack of nutrients in the blood and tissues of the body.

A complete diet should include a sufficient amount of proteins, fats, vitamins, minerals and trace elements.

Of course, dogs are usually fed offal and waste from the
